Out with the old, in with the new.
These are a few images from a series I created for a Powerpoint presentation about the nature of education in Hong Kong.
A bit of fun experimenting with Photoshop …
This is my contribution to part of a series entitled, “Rebirth” that I worked on with several friends. We were inspired by the city of Hong Kong and utilized found fabrics stretched on board as our canvas. There’s a long story behind the piece – but in a nutshell it concerns the idea of revisiting a childhood memory as an adult.
I’ve posted a detail as the pencil work is a little hard to see!
Sham Shui Po is seriously like, the best part of town … There’s so much old crumbly stuff to look at and random objects sold in multiples, for example, vintage stuffed animal eyes?! I tried to barter for a card full of them on display but the shop owner wasn’t having it.
I started this series with “Commercial Button Noses” awhile back, after finding a set of those in a shop window – and I had to continue with the “Eyes” series just cause they’re so cool …
Hopefully I can continue this “mass production” series as there’s tons of good junk / weird stuff that’s calling to be painted… rolls of ribbons, poker chips, garage door openers, weird hardware store stuff……….
The fun begins…
