Ciao, Roma!

A mural I created for M&J Place Hostel in Rome! I stylized the world map to make it a little more funky and interesting for the viewer. The remaining space was filled with text that includes the word “Hello” in every language. I hope the mural will enhance the friendly and artistic environment of the hostel as well as provide an interesting topic of conversation for the variety of international visitors they receive. Please check out www.mejplacehostel.com for more information!

And many thanks to Mario & the rest of the staff!

Sensory Overload?

A mannequin I painted for Sensory Runway hosted by E.V.E.N.T. on August 20 at Cliq in Hong Kong. Thanks all for coming out – the event was a huge success!

I took the concept of the five senses and used it as the basis for my mannequin design, inspired by the complete sensory overload I experienced when I first moved to Hong Kong!

Killer Schoolgirls.

Our team created a “Welcome Back” installation art piece for the campus. Each of us was responsible for painting one side of the square-shaped box installation centered on the theme of “Back to School”. These schoolgirls are in a rush to get to class, and I like the silliness of their unmatching shoes and socks. We used house paint on found cardboard boxes for this piece. I love the contrast of the khaki-colored boxes with the sharp white and bright colors of the paint.

Back to School…

Two views of an installation created with recycled cardboard boxes – a perfect canvas that I think I will use again in the future! I like the “pop art” feel you get from it, similar to Andy Warhol’s boxes of Brillo Pads.

Details of my painting in the next post!
