Reasons to Love… Lane Crawford

Lane Crawford is one of the best department/specialty stores on the globe, and I must say, my personal favorite for a little dose of inspiration! With four locations in Hong Kong, and one in Beijing, this store always gives me a little taste of glamour and a constant flow of drool-worthy goodies to feast my eyes upon.

I was lucky enough to be asked to create a window design for their Valentine’s-themed “Reasons to Love…” month-long event, alongside other notable Hong Kong artists such as Mimi Leung, Anna Fredrikkson and others! The windows will be up at the Pacific Place shop through the month of February.

My window was themed on the quote “Adornment is only a reflection of the heart” ~Anonymous aka “Reasons to Love…Sparkle”

As a rather frequent customer of hardware shops around Yau Ma Tei and Mong Kok, I’ve been dying to include some of the chaotic patterning I find there in one of my art pieces – so I covered a female figure with hooks, keys, mini cake tins, nuts, bolts, drain covers, wheels, and – for a touch of glamour – Swarovski crystals!

To top it all off, the store added jewellery from the latest collections to adorn the figure.

Hope you can stop by & check it out! And please take a look at the other artists’ fantastic pieces in windows throughout the store.

You can also view my hand-painted text on all the artists’ windows at Pacific Place, as well as on a special display at the IFC location.

Hope to post some better photos later this week!
