Central Kladno

With big European cities like Prague or Berlin frequently getting all the tourist attention, (not to mention culture, economic advantage, museums, food, and more), it’s easy to forget that smaller European cities are equally deserving of a visit, and for their residents, the opportunity to experience art and beauty. This mural installation, initiated by Henceforth Agency in Prague, was created in the former steel-factory and mining town of Kladno, Czech Republic, (located 25 kilometers northwest of Prague) and intended for this very purpose.

Painted on the wall of a busy bus stop and on the supporting columns of a pedestrian bridge outside of Central Kladno Shopping Center (the local client who approached Henceforth Agency in this project), the mural brings a shot of color to the town, still chock-full of gray housing blocks from the Communist era. Locals here often commute to Prague, or work in nearby factories, but rare is the opportunity to see street art or an exhibition locally.
